Engineering has always been the driving force behind human civilization. From simple
machines such as the lever used in the ancient years to microwave oven of the present, all these are the creations of engineering.
The purpose of engineering is always to solve problems using the most simplified and cost effective way. Many of engineering works are doing their part in helping the environment. Recycling, for example, helps reduces the amount of waste to be dumped into landfills. Engineering has made life much more convenient with the introduction of the Internet. From banking to education, almost anything is possible on the Internet.
Engineers are trained to analyze complex problem systematically. It would often be broken down into smaller and isolated parts to identify where the real problem lies in. Moreover, engineers are often trained in a wide range of areas, from chemical engineering to the much anticipated biomedical field, they have a lot to offer when it comes to designing solutions to complex problems. They have also been exposed to the business sector and entrepreneurship programmes where their problem solving skills can be applied.
With the present world surrounded by machines and super computers, the training and knowledge of engineers are often needed to maintain and operate these high tech equipments.
In the years to come, more problems including health care and environmental awareness will surface and the responsibilities of finding solutions to them rest on the engineering trade. They have changed the world for the past centuries and will continue to do so.
